Is PolyTerra™ PLA biodegradable?

The short answer is: not in the traditional sense — it will not degrade if simply thrown on the side of the road.

PolyTerra™ PLA requires specific environmental conditions, such as those found in industrial composting facilities, to properly break down.

We’ve developed a unique formula that degrades faster than standard PLA while still maintaining excellent printability. This represents an important step forward in addressing the end-of-life impact of PLA within the 3D printing industry.

Printing & Drying Settings for PolyTerra™ PLA

🔧 Printing Parameters:

Printing Temperature: 190°C – 230°C

Bed Temperature: 25°C – 60°C

Printing Speed: 30 mm/s – 70 mm/s

Cooling Fan: ON

🔁 Retraction Settings:

Direct Drive:

Retraction Distance: 1 mm

Retraction Speed: 20 mm/s

Indirect (Bowden) Drive:

Retraction Distance: 3 mm

Retraction Speed: 40 mm/s

💨 Drying Settings:

Temperature: 55°C

Duration: 6 hours

Use only if the filament has absorbed moisture.

⚠️ Note:
PolyTerra™ PLA is slightly more abrasive than standard PLA. To reduce nozzle wear and avoid clogging, a hardened steel nozzle and 0.6 mm or larger diameter is recommended for extended use.
