What is the difference between PolyLite™ PLA, PolyMax™ PLA and PolyLite™ PLA Pro?

Short answer:

PolyLite™ PLA: Very rigid with low impact resistance.

PolyMax™ PLA: Highly ductile with excellent impact resistance and durability.

PolyLite™ PLA Pro: Combines the strengths of both — offering great rigidity and high impact strength.

Does the Metallic Effect Affect Layer Adhesion?

Yes, but only slightly.

PolyLite™ PLA Pro Metallic filaments show a minor reduction in layer adhesion compared to regular PLA Pro due to the addition of crystal or pearl powders in the color masterbatch.

Regular PLA Pro: 36.49 MPa

Metallic Gold/Silver/Bronze (Crystal Powder): 30.12 MPa (≈17% reduction)

Metallic Blue/Red/Magenta (Pearl Powder): 34.32 MPa (≈6% reduction)

For context:

Standard PLA: 40.55 MPa

Silk PLA: 20.21 MPa (≈50% drop due to formula change)

PLA Carbon Fiber: 15.13 MPa

PolyTerra PLA: 12.20 MPa

PolyTerra PLA+: 16.69 MPa

💡 Note: Unlike Silk PLA, which has a different formula and significantly weaker strength, PLA Pro Metallic only uses modified colorants, so the effect on strength is minimal and cosmetic.
